The grapes used to make this wine are from vines in Quintanilla de Onésimo (Valladolid) in the heart of Castile. These are traditionally grown vines more than 20 years old. Most of the grapes used are Chardonnay from the La Planta estate. This land has very special features: its soils are chalky clay with unfragmented bedrock less than a metre from the surface. Another unusual feature is its altitude of around 900 m (3,000 ft).
